A total of 750m long of river wall was constructed on the
banks of Klang River, Kuala Lumpur stretching from Jalan Sultan
Ismail to Jalan Tun Razak using the Anchored Earth Technology.
The river wall was needed to increase the flow capacity of
the river, to gain precious land along the prime area of Kuala
Lumpur city and to provide the needed right of way for the
Project Lintasan Kota Elevated Highway.
The design of the AE river wall is similar
to the design of AE wall on land except that adequate considerations
need to be provided for hydrostatic pressure, buoyancy, drainage
and scouring protection at the toe. A typical section is as
shown in the sketch below.
